John Lennon (October 9, 1940 - December 8, 1980), was a British musician, songwriter and peace activist. Though best known co-lead of The Beatles, much of his musical work and activism was a collaboration with his second wife, Japanese-born artist Yoko Ono, with whom he staged many pro-peace events such as the Bed Peaces of 1969.
